Applications being accepted for Henrico Civilian Fire Academy
Residents 18 and older can register through Aug. 30 for the free Henrico Civilian Fire Academy, a program that started in 2000 and gives participants a chance to experience many of the elements of firefighting. Coursework will include rappelling, driving fire apparatus, learning CPR, performing vehicle extrication and more. The academy will be held on 10 days during an eight-week period between Sept. 5 and Oct. 30, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on specific days at the Henrico Public Safety Building located at 7701 East Parham Road.
