The Henrico Branch NAACP is hosting a May 21 screening of the film The Right to Read, an effort to raise awareness about the literacy crisis in the United States. The Right to Read tells the stories of an NAACP activist, a teacher, and two American families who fight for the youngest generation’s ability to read. Experts throughout the film discuss the current state of literacy in the United States and the importance of implementing reading skills into classroom instruction nationwide.
